When creating a brand and trying to show the audience that you are going for your brand voice and the personality behind your brand, it is very important to try to get a hold of influencers to help out. These influencers can be huge when it comes to increasing your audience. An influencer is someone who ha a pre existing following that can promote your brand by just wearing them or using them, depending on what goods and services that you offer
A company that uses professional athletes as most of their influencers is Oakley. After their recent deal with the NFL, all visors that are being used on helmets are Oakley brand. Since this, they have been able to get a lot of NFL athletes to become influencers for them based off the positive experience that they have had with them. If you go through Juju’s Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Tik Tok, you will see multiple promotions that involve him wearing Oakley sunglasses and other products. This influences his following to go out and buy Oakley since they are all looking up to him and want to wear some things that he wears.
This was huge for Oakley in getting influencers that play football. They have been big in baseball for years since they wear glasses to be able to see fly balls in the sun. Football has never really had many openings because the visors had a contract before to make sure that they only use one type of visor. When Oakley came in, they were not looking for a change in the visors but when Oakley offered, the NFL couldn’t say no because it was such a large company that has an expertise in eyewear. The influencers that they were able to snag through the NFL has opened up huge opportunities for Oakley to promote more towards football players. Along with Juju, they have many other athletes which include Patrick Mahomes, a former NFL super bowl winner.
These influencers can play a large part in changing your brand voice as well. This is because it can follow along with the personality of the influencer that you choose. They can make it their own and this is what their audience loves because it can show background of the athlete. This lets everyone know that the athletes are humans as well that go through things that everyone goes through, thus connecting the audience more with the athletes, causing the audience to want to invest in the same products the athletes have.
